A day in the life of a REALTOR / Mom

Each day I wake up, get ready as everyone does though I'd like to think I'm preparing for a relay race (of the business type) each day. My routine is a lengthy one but done very efficiently, involving taking care of myself, my children, my pets and my house.  Animal feeding (we have many) is an enjoyable part that begins my day and rolls into a quick 15 minute jog. Today my 9 year old daughter joined me, which was quite nice.  Next comes the quick shower and getting myself ready. Now onto breakfast for the kids who are hopefully dressed and in a good mood by that time. Backpacks filled, tummys stuffed, everyone brushes teeth and we move onto some cuddles and chats before the bus comes.

Bye bye bus...

Next, I pressure myself with the question of, "What will I do today that increases the chance that my listings will sell, or that my buyers will find the right home?"

Check emails, respond. Computer on- as my day begins with a 20 minute computer session at home, getting the early bird correspondences out.

Off to the office. My weekday office hours begin. Can't skip a beat. These are the quietest but busiest hours because I have transactions to move through the pipeline, ensuring every detail of every step is in place.

Next come the problems- What problems are there that I need to resolve or how can I help others in resolving their issues by being resourceful? This often involves the team of experts involved in the transactions and "communication" is usually involved in the answer.

Problems solved, return calls and new emails that have come in. Resolve these or work through these leads. Are any of them potential new clients? Oftentimes, yes.

Appointments- What are they today? I don't have them every day but when I do, they might be in the evenings or weekends so I can use some of my time each day for prospecting.

Prepare for any upcoming closings, that's always a great one!

Prospecting-FSBO's, recently expireds, looking for referrals from former clients, who can I meet today?

Marketing and advertising my listings- Where can I get the word out about my clients' properties? Are my buyers listed on Homescout to assist them with their search?

Lunch? It's 1:30, let's snack and move on...

Bus comes so I return home to perform the "Momma duties" on most days before my after dinner work begins. If I have paperwork to finish for a new listing I will do it then. Sometimes it is a showing or CMA that must be done after normal work hours. A new listing requires several hours of downloading and editing photos and making my video for promotion.

Feed the animals-Feed the kids-How was everyone's day?

At times I have a school board meeting or my husband has a band gig and I'm "on duty" with the kids so it's playtime of course.

8pm, kids are in bed and it's dishes and laundry time. Maybe vacuum and tidy up. Stretch and spend time with my husband. Sigh-another day begins in 10 hours.

Thanks for sharing your day. I'm glad I have only one pet. As a buyer's agent I spend a lot of time showing houses. I'm glad I have someone to get my kids after school and watch them while I work. Otherwise it would be a lot harder for me to balalnce.
